Man arrested over serious assault in Ballymoney

A man has been arrested after another suffered a serious head injury in an assault in Ballymoney, Co Antrim.

The 25-year-old victim was attacked at a hotel car-park in the Castle Street area of the town at around 1.30am on Sunday.

He was taken to hospital for treatment to a serious head injury.

A 22-year-old man was arrested on Sunday evening on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and is currently helping police with their enquiries.

Detective Sergeant Chris Wilkinson said: “There were a large number of people in the area at the time and I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the assault or anyone with any information that could assist the police investigation to contact detectives at Coleraine police station on the non-emergency number 101."
