A man has been assaulted by a masked gang armed with weapons in south Belfast.

It happened in the Malfin Drive area on Wednesday September 7.

At around 10.10pm it was reported that a 24-year-old man had been assaulted by a number of masked men armed with weapons.

It is not yet known what weapons were used.

Detective Inspector Paul Rowland said: "One man has been arrested and is currently in Musgrave Police Station assisting police with their enquiries.

“Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact detectives at Musgrave Police Station on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 1363 of 07/09/16.

"Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
