Man attacked with gun in east Belfast house

Detectives are appealing for information following an assault that occurred in the Thorndyke Street area of East Belfast in the early hours of Saturday.

Just before 3.30am, police received a report that two men had entered a house and assaulted a 29-year-old man with a suspected firearm.

The man received injuries to his head and hands and needed hospital treatment for them. They are not believed to be life threatening.

Detective Inspector Peter Mullan said: "I would appeal to anyone with any information about this incident to contact detectives at Musgrave Police Station on the non emergency number 101.

"Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111."
