Man attacked with knife during attempted robbery in Belfast

Police are appealing for information following the report of an attempted robbery of a man in the Skegoneill Avenue area of Belfast in the early hours on Monday, January 2.

Shortly after midnight, as a man got out of his car he was approached by a male who tried to steal his bag. The assailant then produced a knife. The victim was able to fend the man off. He was not injured in the incident but was left very badly shaken.

The culprit and another male who was with him then made off in the direction of the Shore Road in a small white car.

Detective Constable McIlwaine would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed this incident or anyone who has information to contact Detectives at Musgrave on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 23 02/01/17.
