Man bailed over woman's shooting

A man arrested in connection with the loyalist paramilitary shooting of a young woman in east Belfast has been released on bail.

He was being questioned about the attack on Jemma McGrath, 24, who was seriously wounded when a gunman opened fire on her last month.

The Ulster Volunteer Force was blamed for the attack which happened at Lord Street Mews off the Beersbridge Road.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland said the 28-year-old man had been released on bail pending further inquiries.

Ms McGrath, a care worker, was hit five times in the lower abdomen, left arm and both legs. She is still receiving treatment for her injuries in hospital.
