A man has been battered with iron bars during an attack in Co Antrim.

He was targeted at a house in the Ballyvannon Road area of Glenavy just after 4am.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries which were not believed to be life threatening.

Police are investigating a link between the assault and the discovery of a burnt-out car nearby.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101.
