A man was beaten with a baseball bat and a hammer during a burglary in Dungannon.

A number of masked men forced their way into the victim's house in the Tullyaran Road area shortly after 1.30am on Sunday.

The intruders then attacked the 36-year-old occupant with a baseball bat and a hammer.

He was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries to his arms, legs and back that are not believed to be life threatening.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information that will assist the investigation is asked to contact detectives in Dungannon police station on the non-emergency number 101.
