A man has been beaten with hammers during a north Belfast burglary.

At around 9.30pm on Wednesday, a number of masked men forced their way into a house at Canning Place and assaulted the 37-year-old.

He was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries to his arms and legs.

The intruders also smashed a number of windows in the property before making off on foot along Clanmorris Street.

Anyone with information that can assist with the investigation is asked to contact detectives at Musgrave Police Station on 101, quoting reference number 1405 of 20/07/16.
