Man charged over Strabane road crash death

A 49-year-old man has been charged after another man was killed in a car crash near Strabane on Saturday.

The victim, a man aged in his 40s, died following a collision between a lorry and a van at around 10pm on the Melmount Road in the Victoria Bridge area of the town.

The 49-year-old has been charged with dangerous driving causing death, causing death by driving whilst uninsured, no insurance and failing to have recording equipment fitted to his vehicle, namely a tachograph.

He is due to appear at Enniskillen Magistrates' Court tomorrow morning.

Police ask anyone who witnessed a white Mercedes box lorry or a white Citroen van on the Melmount Road, Victoria Bridge, Strabane between 10 pm and 10.15 pm on Saturday evening to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on non emergency number 101.
