A Chinese man found with cannabis was refused compassionate bail to attend his mother's funeral after a judge ruled he was a flight risk.
Qi Lin (30) was arrested in November 2014 at his home at Larne Road, Carrickfergus, following a tip-off to police.
He has been charged with possession of Class B drug with intent to supply and also money laundering offences under the Proceeds of Crime Act. Belfast Crown Court heard postal staff alerted police after becoming suspicious about a package sent through the post addressed to a 'Colin Wong'.
Prosecution lawyer Robin Steer told Judge Patrick Kinney "We simply say that there is a flight risk in this case given his previous history of absconding."
