Man denies indecently assaulting teenage niece
A 30-year-old uncle has gone on trial accused of indecently assaulting his teenage lesbian niece after asking her if she wanted to know what a real man felt like.
Belfast Crown Court heard that the 16-year-old had been tidying his Co Antrim home while her aunt was in hospital giving birth to a baby boy in July 2008.
The man, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the now 18-year-old, denies two charges of indecently assaulting her by kissing her while attempting to remove her top, and later touching her inside her pyjamas.
In a video-taped police interview, the teenager claimed it all began when her uncle — drunk on Buckfast wine — asked her to get into bed beside him.
She said he asked her if she had even had a French kiss, before leaning forward and kissing her. He later tried to remove her top.
After managing to push him away, the girl said he became apologetic. She remained beside him in the bed until he fell asleep and she went and slept in one of the boys' rooms.
The following morning he then got into bed beside her and began to touch her while asking did she want him to show her “what a real man felt like”.
The man denies that “anything improper had happened” between him and the teenager.
