Man dies in collision between lorry and car in Co Antrim

A 62-year-old man has died in hospital after his car collided with a lorry on the main road between Ballymena and Antrim. It happened at around 8pm on Tuesday evening but motorists were warned the closure would continue through the Wednesday morning rush hour and well into the afternoon.

A 62-year-old man has died following a collision between a lorry and a car in Co Antrim.

The man, who was driving a silver Peugeot 308 car, was travelling on the Lisnevenagh Road in Antrim at around 8pm on Tuesday when the collision with a blue Leyland Horsebox happened.

The 62-year-old died from his injuries in hospital.

A man and a woman who were in the Horsebox sustained injuries that are not thought to be life threatening.

Police are appealing to anyone who was travelling on the Lisnevenagh Road and who witnessed the collision to contact local Police in Antrim Police Station or the Collision Investigation Unit at Steeple Police Station on the non-emergency number 101.
