Man escapes injury after gang armed with sledge hammer ransack Broughshane house

A man escaped injury after men armed with a sledge hammer ransacked a house in Broughshane.

It happened in the early hours of Friday morning in the Main Street area.

A number of men armed with a sledge hammer forced their way into the property just before 12.30am.

The male resident escaped through the back door and raised the alarm.

He was unharmed during the incident and the men ransacked a number of rooms before making off.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area of Main Street in Broughshane last night or anyone who has any information that can assist with the investigation to contact detectives in Ballymena on 101 quoting reference number 14 of 17/03/17. Information can also be given anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
