Man faces eight charges over Belfast car hijacking
A 33-year-old man arrested in connection with a hijacking in Belfast during which a female motorist had her car taken at knifepoint has appeared in court.
Steven James Patrick Fegan, from Sliabh Dubh View in Belfast, appeared in the dock of the city's Magistrates Court yesterday. He has been charged with a range of offences arising from an incident last Friday when an Audi A3 was stolen and then abandoned.
Fegan faces a total of eight charges, including aggravated vehicle taking, driving the vehicle dangerously and possession of an offensive weapon, a knife, in a public place.
He has also been charged with false imprisonment, hijacking, dangerous driving, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and making threats to kill. After the charges were read to Fegan, a detective constable told the court he believed he could connect the accused to the offences. Fegan was remanded into custody for four weeks and will reappear at the same court on August 20.
