A 41-year-old man has been arrested in England as part of a major police investigation into the supply of Class A drugs in Northern Ireland.

A tonne of benzocaine, a bulking agent for cocaine, was seized when officers from the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) and Humberside Police swooped on six properties in the Grimsby area.

The suspect is being taken to Belfast for questioning.

Detective Inspector Pete Mullan, from the PSNI's reactive and organised crime branch, said: "We are determined to tackle the threat posed to communities by illegal drugs and will work with law enforcement partners across the country to apprehend suspected offenders and help keep people safe."
