Police have seized around £190,000 worth of cannabis in south Belfast.

A 39-year-old man was arrested by detectives following a search of two houses yesterday. The suspect was last night in custody assisting detectives with their inquiries.

A spokesman for the PSNI's organised crime branch said: "I am pleased that we have taken a considerable quantity of illicit drugs from the streets of Northern Ireland.

"Seizures such as this demonstrate our ongoing commitment to tackling the scourge of drugs in our society.

"I would encourage anyone who has any information about the use or supply of illegal drugs to contact police on the non-emergency number 101."

Information can also be supplied anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
