An assault on a 50-year-old man is being treated as a sectarian hate crime.

He was attacked by three men who got out of a car at Curran Road in Larne just after 3am this morning.

The victim was taken to hospital where he was treated for minor head injuries.

PSNI Inspector Mick Wood said: "The assault is being treated as a sectarian hate crime and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed this incident to contact police at Larne on 101.

"Information can also be passed anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
