Man illegally imported sex pills
A Co Antrim man who illegally imported a range of sex pills from China undertook a business venture that went wrong, a court has heard.
Imran Ali (48) planned to sell the male and female tablets after locating them in an online search and arranging to have them sent to Northern Ireland.
Ali, of Sherwood Avenue, Glengormley, was fined a total of £300 for illegal importation of medicine and importing and selling without a licence.
The offences related to a range of pills including Viagra. Importation took place on a date between February 1 and March 29.
Defence counsel Richard McConkey told Belfast Magistrates Court yesterday the tablets were available on eBay.
Mr McConkey acknowledged Ali did not have a licence but was unaware of any illegality.
District Judge Mervyn Bates pointed out that the pills could not have been for the defendant's personal use, as was first claimed. He noted that some were gender-based.
The judge imposed £100 fines on each of the three offences before the court.
