Man in court over Belfast drugs seizure
A Southampton man has appeared in court in connection with the seizure of up to £28,000 worth of herbal cannabis in north Belfast.
Alan Owen was arrested by detectives investigating an alleged plot to send the Class B drugs in the post.
The 46-year-old faces charges of conspiracy to import cannabis and transferring criminal property.
A judge at Belfast Magistrates Court agreed to grant him bail once a £2,500 surety is lodged.
Owen, of Bitterne Road West in Southampton, is allegedly linked to a drugs seizure in the Skegoneill area on March 8.
At a previous hearing for a co-accused, prosecutors said police intercepted a package said to have been sent from the south of England through the Royal Mail.
The parcel contained two smaller boxes originally posted from Belgium.
The drugs recovered were said to have an estimated street value of £14,000-£28,000.
