Police are investigating after a man was found seriously injured at a flat in Ross House, Mount Vernon, Belfast.

The man, aged 24, was located in a bedroom at around 11.30am on Monday.

He had sustained head and facial injuries and is now understood to be in a critical condition in hospital.

Detective Inspector Mark McHaffie said: "At this time we believe this male may have been the victim of an attack or assault of some kind.

"We are working hard to establish exactly what happened and we are keen to hear from anyone with information that could assist our investigation, in particular anyone who was in the vicinity of Ross House from midnight to midday on Monday 28th December 2015, and who saw or heard anything that could assist. "

"Detectives can be contacted at the offices of Reactive and Organised Crime at Musgrave Police station, Belfast city centre by calling 101.

"Alternatively information about this crime can be passed to the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
