Man killed in head-on Omagh car crash named

Police have named the 49-year-old man who was killed in a crash in Omagh, Co Tyrone.

He was Omagh man Paul Mills.

The head on collision on the Dromore Road involving a Toyota Yaris and a Saab Vector happened at around 10pm on Saturday.

Mr Mills was driving the Toyota and was taken to hospital for treatment before he died from his injuries.

The 40-year-old woman driver of the Saab was also taken to hospital for treatment. Her injuries were described as not life-threatening.

She was later arrested.

The Dromore Road was closed to allow for police investigations, it has since been reopened to traffic.

Police have appealed for information and in particular for anyone who may have witnessed an earlier crash between the Saab and a white Peugeot 207.

Inspector Stephen Humphries added: “We have spoken to a number of witnesses however we know that other motorists who have not yet come forward were travelling on the road last night and they may have information that could assist in the investigation.

"The number to call is 101.”
