Man remanded in custody accused of raping teenage girl in Belfast
A man was remanded in custody today accused of raping a teenage girl in Belfast.
Firat Akay appeared before the city's Magistrates' Court over an alleged attack in the Antrim Road area early on Saturday morning.
The 28-year-old, with an address at Sealands Parade, Belfast, faces three charges of rape, sexual assault by penetration and sexual assault.
Asked if he understood the alleged offences he replied: "Yes I do."
A detective constable said she could connect him to the charges.
Akay was remanded in custody to appear again by video link later this week, when he is expected to apply for bail.
