Man shot in legs by stranger with pellet gun in Stranmillis

A young man was shot in the legs in Stranmillis on Friday night by a stranger with a pellet gun.

The 25-year-old was approached by the unknown male at about 11.30pm at the Stranmillis embankment.

He shot at him four times, the victim sustaining two pellet wounds to his left thigh.

Detectives in south Belfast are appealing for information about the shooter, who was wearing dark clothing with a hooded top covering his face.

Detective Constable Burns said: "Police enquiries are continuing and we would appeal to anyone with any information to contact police in Musgrave Police Station on the non emergency number 101."
