Man shot in the leg in Carrickfergus

Detectives are appealing for witnesses following a shooting incident in the Castlemara Estate in Carrickfergus on Friday night.

It was reported that at around 7.30pm a man, aged in his 50s, was out walking close to Castlemara Shops when he was approached by three masked males.

They shot him in the leg and he was taken to hospital for treatment for a single gunshot wound to his calf.

It is believed the three males made off on foot.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who witnessed the shooting or anyone with any information relating to it to contact them in Larne on the non-emergency number 101.
