Man stabbed in chest and back at party in Donaghadee

A man is being treated in hospital after being stabbed at a party in Donaghadee.

The man, aged in his 30s, was stabbed in the chest and back shortly after midnight at a party behind held at a flat in the Cannyreagh Road area on Saturday morning.

The suspect then left and was followed by a number of other people who had been at the party.

The man was identified and arrested by police a short distance away.

He was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon.

The 30-year-old man arrested by police was released on police bail pending further enquiries on Sunday.

The injured man was taken to the Ulster hospital and police have said he is in a stable condition.

Detective Sergeant Melanie McGrory said: "I would ask anyone with any information about this incident to contact detectives in Newtownards on 101 quoting reference number 30 11/03/17 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
