Man up in court over £700 theft of sex toys from Belfast sex shop
A man has appeared in court accused of stealing £700 worth of adult toys in a raid on a Belfast sex shop.
Gary McCann faces charges of burglary and theft over an alleged break-in at the store on Gresham Street. The 26-year-old is expected to raise the issue of duress as part of his defence, a judge was told.
McCann, of Bray Street in Belfast, was arrested by police investigating the incident on October 27 last year. As well as being charged with the theft of adult toys, he is accused of stealing £800 in cash from the premises.
A police constable told Belfast Magistrates Court he could connect him with the alleged offences.
Appearing in the dock dressed in a jacket, shirt and tie, McCann confirmed he understood the charges against him. District Judge Fiona Bagnall was told there is a co-accused in the case.
Adjourning the case for five weeks, McCann was released on continuing bail to return to court on February 9.
