Man wins gun licence review
A man whose gun permit was withheld over an alleged association with an outlawed grouping has won the first stage in a legal challenge to the revocation.
Gerald McCambridge was granted leave to seek a judicial review of the Secretary of State's decision to refuse his appeal against the move by police.
His firearms licence was revoked following an application to vary its terms.
The High Court was told yesterday that the only reason given was a claim that he associated with members of an unnamed proscribed organisation.
Lawyers for Mr McCambridge said that he had never knowingly had any dealings with anyone connected to such groupings.
Mr Justice Horner ruled that an arguable case had been established in the legal challenge, and granted leave to seek a judicial review.
