Police are investigating after a mother and daughter were threatened with a gun in Dunloy

A woman barricaded herself and her daughter into a bedroom as masked men broke into their home and threatened her with a gun.

Around 10.30am on Monday, two masked men entered through the back door of a house in the Hillside drive area of Donloy and threatened the woman with a handgun.

She ran to the bedroom and waited there with her daughter for police to arrive.

Detective Constable Marty McCaw said: “We are making every effort to identify the man with the gun. He is described as being around 5’ 7” tall and of stocky build with a local accent. He was wearing a black sweat top, dark or blue bottoms and a woollen mask.

“I am appealing for anyone who may have been in the area around the time and witnessed anything suspicious, or who may have any information regarding this incident, to contact detectives from Reactive and Organised Crime branch in Coleraine on 101.

“Alternatively, information can be given anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 101.”
