A baby boy is believed to be Northern Ireland's first newborn of 2016 - born at three minutes past midnight in the Causeway Hospital.

Amid the New Year festivities, families across the province celebrated new additions.

We've been totting them up and so far 20 babies were reported born in the early hours of this morning.

A boy, born at the Causeway Hospital looks to have been the first.

Laura and Ryan Porter from Magherafelt welcomed Baby Porter who was born at the Causeway Hospital, Coleraine, at just three minutes past the stroke of midnight, weighing in at a bouncing 6lb 4oz.

Elsewhere at Daisy Hill there was one newborn arrival, while at the Ulster in Dundonald five were born - all girls.
