Memorial service held in New York for Martin McGuinness
A memorial service was held in New York for the late Martin McGuinness.
The Sinn Fein veteran passed away following a short battle with illness in the early hours of Tuesday March 21.
The 66-year-old former deputy First Minister died in hospital with his family by his side.
Large crowds gathered for the service at St Patrick's Cathedral on Monday night.
Among those in attendance was members of Mr McGuinness' family and Sinn Fein deputy leader Mary Lou McDonald.
Senator George Mitchell in his eulogy said: "As I have said often the real heroes of the Northern Ireland peace process were the people and the political leaders of Northern Ireland.
"At a critical moment in their people’s history they summoned the courage and vision to end a conflict that some historians trace back over 800 years.
"Martin was one of them. He had courage and he had vision."
A month's mind mass will be held in Londonderry on Wednesday night.
