Men arrested over Newtownabbey approach to child
Three men have been arrested after a report of an approach to a child in the Newtownabbey area.
Police said a number of men were reported acting suspiciously in a car in the Bawnmore area and that they had approached a young boy close to a shop on Sunday.
Three men were subsequently arrested following another incident in the Bawnmore Grove area of Newtownabbey on Wednesday afternoon. Police would not discuss the nature of that incident.
Inspector Colin Ash said: “Shortly after 4.30pm it was reported that a number of males in a car were acting suspiciously in the area. It was reported that a car matching the description had been seen in the area of Bawnmore Park on Sunday evening and the occupants had approached a young boy close to a shop in the area.
“Police responded and the three males, aged 49, 55 and 58, were arrested in the Shore Road area on suspicion of going equipped for theft. A fourth male, who was reported to have been in the car, made off on foot along Mill Road.
“All three suspects remain in custody assisting police with their enquiries.”
