Michael Conlan has a gift for five-year-old who offered him sports day medal after shocking Rio Olympics defeat - urges him to get in touch
Michael Conlan has urged a young boxing fan who offered him his school sports day medal after the boxer was "cheated" out of another Olympics medal to get in touch.
Conlan was devastated after his loss to Russian Vladimir Nikitin in Rio and vented his frustration on live television moments after.
However, so distraught was a young fan he offered his medal in an attempt to help make up for opportunity to add to the London Bronze won in 2012 by Conlan.
Marie Kirk shared her nephew's letter on Facebook.
After seeing the fight, five-year-old Finn McManus wrote: "You should have won because you are the best boxer in the world.
"I want you to have my school medal because you are a winner.
"I hope you like it."
After the letter hit the headlines Conlan responded asking the young fan to get in touch as he had a gift for him.
