A motorcyclist has died in a road crash in Co Down.

Richard Carson, 40, from the Newtownards area was killed in the collision between his motorcycle and a blue Peugeot car on the Ballysallagh Road in Crawfordsburn at around 3pm on Sunday.

The woman driver of the car was taken to hospital to be treated for injuries which were not believed to be life threatening.

Mr Carson was the second motorcyclist to die on Northern Ireland's roads over the weekend.

A 39-year-old man died after a road crash near Larne on Saturday morning.

He was riding a Suzuki bike on the Shanes Hill road when he was in collision with a Renault Scenic car in the area of Kilwaughter around three miles outside the town.
