A man has appeared in court accused of causing the death of a man in north Belfast by dangerous driving.

Robert Karim (49) was charged by police investigating an incident in the Brae Hill Park area on March 29.

Officers called to the scene discovered Lawrence Pritchard (50) critically ill with head and leg injuries.

Mr Pritchard, who lived in the area, died in hospital 12 days later.

Entering the dock at Belfast Magistrates' Court yesterday, Karim, of Ballysillan Drive in the city, spoke only to confirm he understood the charge against him.

A Public Prosecution Service lawyer said a large file of papers was being prepared in the case.

Karim's solicitor also disclosed that a forensic report was not due until the end of July.

District judge Fiona Bagnall agreed to put the case back for eight weeks. Karim was released on continuing bail to return to court on August 3.
