Police attended a multiple car collision on the outside lane of the M1 motorway citybound in west Belfast on Sunday afternoon.

At least six cars are believed to be involved in the collision which happened close to the Divis Street slip road just before 2pm.

It is understood that while some drivers and passengers may have sustained some minor injuries, no-one has been taken to hospital yet.

The incident had closed the outside lane of the M1 as police and emergency services attend the scene.

But both lanes were clear and operational within an hour of the crash happening.

An eye-witness told the Belfast Telegraph: "The crash happened before 2pm. It seemed that two cars collided which caused another one to break hard behind it and then it was just like dominoes from after that."
