James Nesbitt and Jamie Dornan will go head-to-head for a top accolade at this year's National Television Awards.

The two Northern Ireland men have been nominated in the best drama performance for the awards.

They will compete against Aidan Turner for his performances in Poldark and Cillian Murphy for his Tommy Shelby in Peaky Blinders.

Also among the 52 nominated in the category is Dornan's Fall co-star Gillian Anderson.

The Fall has also been nominated in the best drama category as too has Cold Feet, which returned to the small screen after a 13-year absence and helped set Nesbitt on the path to becoming a household name during its original run.

They will compete against 20 other dramas including the acclaimed Tom Hiddleston drama The Night Manager and American hit Homeland.

The public can vote for their favourite in each of the categories up until October 23, with the winners announced at a gala awards bash in the O2 in London this January.
