Norma Rutherford from NIE Energy applied for funding from its staff sponsorship scheme called Helping Hands in the Community.

The funding has helped the club purchase the equipment to assist youth training for 36 members aged 8-18.

Norma from NIE Energy met with Stephen Rutherford and some of the kids from Holywood Yacht Club to present them with the training equipment.

Norma, a rescue officer at the club, said: “I am delighted to be presenting the Yacht Club with training equipment to assist its younger members. It’s great to give something practical and useful back to the community.”

Stephen added: “I am thrilled to be receiving these inflatable buoys, shackles, chains and anchors from NIE Energy.

“All the equipment will enhance the training for the kids and make it more enjoyable. It is great to see a local company involved in their community.”
