Education Minister Peter Weir has visited Colaiste Feirste to view progress on its £15.5 million extension and meet staff and pupils.

The capital works project at the secondary level Irish-medium school will provide enhanced sports facilities and improved teaching facilities. The project is one of 18 major capital projects announced in 2012.

The DUP minister said: "I welcome the opportunity to be here today to see the positive impact that investment has on our schools estate.

"The new facilities will provide an enhanced educational environment for the pupils and the staff.

"In addition to the improved provision for the school, such investment also provides a boost to the local construction industry."
