One of Northern Ireland's most unique tourist attractions is to reopen on Monday following a £2m refurbishment programme.

Exploris Aquarium in Portaferry has been closed for two years, but is now back - and it's better than ever.

The attraction now houses a range of new enclosures showcasing its breathtaking range of fish and aquatic animals.

There is also a seal sanctuary and a specially constructed living environment for otters.

And, for the first time in Northern Ireland, visitors will be able to get a close-up of a fearsome Nile crocodile, though this one's a baby.

After a sneak preview of the revamped Exploris Aquarium, Agriculture Minister Michelle McIlveen said: "I was impressed by the high quality attraction it has now become, while retaining at its core an educational experience."

An adult ticket to Exploris Aquarium costs £9.50 at the door.
