A new sculpture unveiled in Belfast's Woodvale Park celebrates both the spirit of boxing and the strength of the local community, the city's Lord Mayor has said.

Sculptures of Rinty Monaghan and John Caldwell have already been unveiled in the city, but it was decided there were so many successful boxers in the Greater Shankill area that it would be unfair to highlight just one or two.

So instead it was decided to capture the spirit of all the boxers in one sculpture.

Lord Mayor Brian Kingston said that "the strength and determination captured in the sculpture very much reflects the qualities of the local community".
