Newcastle: Shots fired at house on Burren Meadow

Shots were fired at a house in Newcastle, Co Down in the early hours of Sunday.

Two shots were fired at a house on Burren Meadow at around 3.30am.

There were no reports of any injuries as a result of the attack.

Damage was caused to a window at the home as well as a car which was parked at the property.

Detective Inspector David Henderson said, "The incident, which was reported to police on Sunday morning, is believed to have taken place around 3.30am.

"The house was occupied at the time and we are currently working to establish a motive for the shooting."

He added: “I would appeal to anyone who was in the Burren Meadows area and witnessed the shooting incident or who has information which could assist us with our enquiries to contact detectives in Ardmore on the non-emergency number 101. "
