Newry motorcyclist is the 32nd death on roads this year

A motorcyclist died when two vehicles were in collision in Newry yesterday.

The man who died was in his 40s.

The incident happened near Ashtree Cottages on Rathfriland Road yesterday afternoon.

He was taken to Daisy Hill Hospital in Newry but later died.

The road was expected to remain closed overnight as police examined the scene.

PSNI Inspector Lynsey Barr appealed for anyone on the road at 4.30pm and saw the crash to contact police.

A total of 32 people have died on Northern Ireland's roads this year.
