A man has died following what police described as an incident at a house in Newtownards.

Dessie Mee (45) from Blenheim Drive was taken to hospital following the incident at Millers House on Regent Street just before 8pm on Tuesday, but he died as a result of his injuries.

A post mortem examination is to take place to determine the cause of his death. Police are treating it as suspicious.

Millers House is owned by the Helm Housing group. It is described as a block of two-bedroom flats.

Two men, aged 35 and 42, and a 29-year-old woman have been arrested as part of the police investigation and are currently in custody assisting detectives with their enquiries.

Detective Superintendent Kevin Geddes said: “Mr Mee was found outside Millers House apartment block in Regent Street shortly before 7.50pm last night. He had been in an apartment immediately beforehand.

“We are appealing for information about Mr Mee’s movements last night and in the last few days. We are also appealing for information about activity in and around apartment number 25 at Millers House last night between 6pm and 8.30pm.

“I would appeal to anyone with information about Mr Mee’s death or activity at the apartment to contact detectives at Newtownards police station.”
