NIHE chief McPeake to retire

The chief executive of the Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE) is to retire.

John McPeake has held the position at the public housing body since 2011.

During three decades in the organisation he held a number of posts including head of research and director of design and property services.

The executive has been the subject of a series of critical reports on issues like the handling of maintenance contracts and the amount of housing benefit fraud.

An NIHE spokesman confirmed: "The chief executive of the Housing Executive John McPeake is to retire later this year.

"The date for his retirement is likely to be at the end of the financial year."
