No prosecution of gun death officer
An off-duty PSNI officer who shot a man dead at an east Belfast petrol station in February will not be prosecuted, the Public Prosecution Service (PPS) has said.
Mark Alexander Ringland, 29, was fatally wounded during an attempted robbery on the Albertbridge Road.
An investigation into the circumstances of the shooting has been carried out by Police Ombudsman Al Hutchinson.
Mr Ringland, from the east Belfast area, had a string of criminal convictions.
A PPS spokeswoman said: "I can confirm that the PPS has taken a decision not to prosecute in this case."
