A pensioner has been left badly shaken after a distraction burglary in north Belfast.

Three men tricked their way into the woman's house at Leggagh Court yesterday after claiming they were representatives of the 'water board'.

Appearing at the woman's house at around 1pm, one man remained with her at the door while the others searched the house before being disturbed by the arrival of a home help.

The trio then left the house on foot in the direction of Bilston Road but the woman was uncertain whether anything had been taken.

Though uninjured, she was left badly shaken, police said.

One of the men was described as around 40 years old with dark hair and a beard and was wearing a yellow high-visibility jacket. The two others were said to be quite tall with dark hair and both aged in their 30s.

Detectives have appealed for anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area or has information to contact detectives in Musgrave on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
