Northern Ireland basks under blue skies in 25C heatwave
Soaring temperatures and sunny skies heralded the start of July - traditionally the wettest month of the summer here.
The weather across the province is part of a swathe of warmth currently drenching the UK and Ireland in temperatures as high as 33C.
The heatwave has been pushed in by a warm front and tropical air mass from continental Europe, which is sweltering in temperatures over 40C.
A Met Office spokesman confirmed temperatures will drop again today with possible thunderstorms.
On Saturday and Sunday temperatures are expected to tail off but will hover around the high teens. Sun worshippers have been warned to take precautions.
