Northern Ireland man in dock over lewd act with horse allegation
A 64-year-old man accused of indecent behaviour with a horse has asked for a field belonging to a riding school to be examined as part of his defence.
Robert McLaughlin, of Sunnyside Drive in Maghera, is pleading not guilty to a charge of committing a lewd act by behaving in an indecent manner with a horse.
When the case was mentioned at Londonderry Crown Court yesterday, the court was told that council members of a horse riding club in Co Derry are to consider a legal request to have a field inspected by representatives of the defendant.
McLaughlin, who was arraigned at the Crown Court earlier this month, denies the charge of indecent behaviour with a horse on May 11 last year.
He is currently on bail awaiting his two-day trial which is due to start on May 30.
The case was mentioned by a prosecution barrister on Friday.
The case is to be mentioned again before Judge Piers Grant next Monday.
