Northern Ireland pair charged with human trafficking and kidnapping woman for sex
A man and woman are to appear before the courts on Thursday charged with offences in relation to human trafficking and sex slavery.
A 32-year-old has been charged with human trafficking for sexual exploitation, controlling prostitution, two counts of rape and kidnapping.
A 20-year-old woman was also charged with a number of offences including human trafficking for sexual exploitation, controlling prostitution and kidnapping.
Both are to appear at Strabane Magistrates’ Court. As is normal procedure all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
The charges are in connection to an operation by the PSNI's human trafficking unit in Dungannon on Tuesday in which a woman was rescued. Police carried out a number of searches in the area following reports of concern from the public.
