Northern Ireland police baffled as 17 people go missing in 48 hours
Police have been left baffled after reports of 17 missing people in the space of 48 hours.
Ards and North Down officers revealed the startling figure on Wednesday morning, saying four people were still unaccounted for.
"Not sure why so many in short period," they said in a tweet.
The tweet was later removed.
Asked why, police said that, by Wednesday afternoon, all but two were still reported missing.
Just hours earlier they had issued an appeal for a 16-year-old girl who had been missing since Monday.
They said it was out of character for Phoebe Armour to not keep in touch with her parents and they becoming increasingly concerned.
"Important to stress as always that Phoebe is not in any trouble and all we want to see is her home safe and well," said officers in a Facebook post.
